Chasing the tide line

A lone sanderling working the edge of the surf on Galveston this morning. Sanderlings sprint back and forth with every wave, probing the wet sand for tiny crabs and worms the moment the water pulls back. This one paused for a second in the shallow wash, just long enough for a photo before the next wave sent it running.
